Steel cylinder shims for VW Volkswagen. When trying to achieve desired compression ratios, it is necessary to add deck height in the barrel by using a steel deck shim. Sometimes you will use a copper shim in the head in addition to a steel barrel shim at the case to get the correct compression ratio. If you are having head work done, I prefer to have large cc'ed chambers. This will reduce barrel shim thickness and keep the combustion contained in the chamber not the piston area. I always apply high temp silicone or 1211 on the barrel and shim to the case to ensure a leak free installation. Sold in sets of 4.
