Description

We have found that the silicone dual port intake boots last much longer than German aftermarket black ones. Cracked and leaking boots can cause an air intake leak. It is a very common problem when the carburetor does not want to idle or there is no adjustment in the mixture or idle speed but very simple to check. You can spray carb or brake cleaner around the boots when the car is running. If the idle changes when spraying around the boots, throttle shaft or intake gaskets, then you have an intake leak. This will cause the engine to suck in air instead of gas and allow the engine too run lean. Running too lean can burn the heads and pistons. It is just like welding, when you add more oxygen, the flame gets hotter. When installing new boots, do not overtighten the clamps. This can cause premature cracking.
