Fan belt options

Choose your fan belt*: 		9.5x905 This is the standard belt for all 1200cc-1600cc Bug, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Bus & Thing
10x900 [Add $1.00]This belt is used when the standard 9.5x905 belt will not tighten up enough with aftermarket pulleys.
11.3x912 [Add $3.00]This belt was originally used on Bugs and Beetles with an alternator. It has the same circumference as the standard 9.5x905 belt but is larger in diameter. It is a modern style serrated belt and considered to be heavy duty version.
10x965 This fits 1972-1979 Bus to the alternator [Add $5.00]
10x1005 This belt fits 1967-1973 Type 3 Squareback, Fastback and Notchback [Add $5.00]
10x1000 This belt fits 1963-1966 Type 3 Squareback, Fastback and Notchback with 6 volt generator [Add $5.00]

Original OEM Continental fan belts for VW Volkswagen Bug, Super beetle, Bus, Karmann Ghia and Type 3. If you break a fan belt in a Bug, you won't get very far. The belt not only operates the generator or alternator, it also turns the cooling fan. It is cheap insurance to carry a spare belt. Although they are still in working condition, close inspection will reveal small hairline cracks in an old belt. The heat makes a fan belt brittle and you can break an old one just by bending it with your hands. Belt tension is adjusted with pulley shims. 7 to 10 shims are required. You can't make it too tight or too loose. Too tight will burn the generator bearing and too loose will slip. I make sure it can twist 90 degrees. Changing your fan belt and gas hose every year is good preventative maintenance.
