This is a replacement gas tank sender for early VW Volkswagen Bug. Original mechanical fuel senders would sometimes have a rubber boot in the middle where the cable connects to the sender. The rubber would crack and the smell of gas would enter the car. This new style sender is plastic bushed and there is no rubber boot to deteriorate.
