Replacement VW Fuel and Gas Tank Sender for VW Volkswagen VDO 221012 and 113919049D. This is an electric gas sender for stock VW Volkswagen Standard Beetle and Thing. It will also work on the VDO gauges that we sell. It is very easy to test a gas gauge. If an electric gas gauge moves, then it is good. If you put 12 volts to the gas gauge, it should make the gauge move to the full position. When testing this gauge, you should never put power to this gauge for more than a couple of seconds. You will cook the gauge with prolonged contact. This normally has a vibrator or voltage stabilizer to reduce voltage. When the tank reads full, then empty, then a quarter tank, the sender is worn. This replaces the german VDO 221012 sender which is no longer available.
