This is a replacement generator or alternator stand for VW Volkswagen Bug, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, and Buses. This will fit 40 hp and 1600cc engine cases. You should always use a new metal baffle gasket when replacing the alternator stand. It is a crush style gasket that is only used once. I use high temp silicone on the top and bottom of the metal baffle gasket to ensure leak free installation. Never use the paper gaskets that come with the engine gasket sets. Paper gaskets get pounded flat by the belt rotation motion and start to leak after time. I use a single port copper intake gasket for the oil filler to the stand. It is also a crush style gasket and works good with a little silicone. Keep in mind that removing an original oil filler can be a challenge if not sometimes impossible. The internal nut has a 50/50 chance of being removed. Sometimes it is easier to purchase and new oil filler and nut.
