This is a replacement generator or alternator pulley for VW Volkswagen Bug, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, and 1600cc Buses. This will fit 40 hp and 1600cc engine. When installing a new pulley or belt on your VW, make sure you properly shim the pulley for belt tension. There are suppose to be 7 to 10 shims on the pulley, either on the front side between the pulley and nut spacer or between the pulley halves for fan belt tension adjustment. If the belt is too tight, it will damage the bearing in the generator or alternator. A good rule of thumb for belt tension is to see if you can twist the belt 90 degrees. Then it will not be too tight or too loose.
