Engle FK65 Camshaft, Lift 478, Duration 280. Small displacement , off road, closed course super torquer. To be used with 1.4 to 1.5 rockers. Now available in basic and master kits with Engle lifters, springs, chromoly retainers and valve keepers. Engle aftermarket performance cams for aircooled VW Volkswagen have been the racing industry standard for over 50 years. When choosing a camshaft, determine the engine size, desired power band and compression ratio. If you want to run pump gas, lower compression ratios work better with less duration and milder head porting. Camshafts with long durations require high compression ratios and extensive head work. Too large of an intake and exhaust port with slow down the air speed if the compression ratio is too low, resulting in sluggish throttle response. I like to keep the lift in the .500" range and duration in the 285-290 range on large street and offroad motors. Your motor will live longer and have great throttle response if you keep it mild instead of extreme. Good head porting, dual carbs, exhaust headers, and electronic ignitions are key components to get the most performance out of your motor. They all work hand in hand.
