Description

It is typical for a clutch cable to need constant adjustment when it is starting to fray. Kennedy heavy duty pressure plates can also be pretty abusive to clutch cables too. Applying generous amounts of grease on clutch cable when installing will ensure maximum life. You should always check your Bowden tube. Clutch cables will saw a groove in to the Bowden tube and cause premature failure due to binding. If you can’t get any adjustment out of a clutch cable, it is possible that the tube in the tunnel has broken away from the welds. You will need to check and reweld the clutch tube in the front, middle and rear of the tunnel if the tube moves. A replacement clutch cable for VW Volkswagen is always a good thing to have stashed in your car with your tools. Do what I do. I usually carry spare fuses, a fan belt, a gas filter, gas and clutch cable, an accelerator cable shortener (which will work as an extender on a broken cable), points and condenser (just in case my electronic ignition fails), valve cover gaskets and motor oil.
