A replacement accelerator cable for VW Volkswagen is always a good thing to have stashed in your car with your tools. Do what I do. I usually carry spare fuses, a fan belt, a gas filter, gas and clutch cable, an accelerator cable shortener (which will work as an extender on a broken cable), points and condenser (just in case my electronic ignition fails), valve cover gaskets and motor oil.
