Replacement 12 volt generator and alternator straps for VW Volkswagen are needed when you are changing from 6 volt diameter generators to 12 volt alternators or generators. You do have a choice of a stock style standard finish, chrome finish strap or a new and improved heavy duty stainless steel T bolt strap. If you are repeatedly breaking generator straps, you might check your fan for cracks or being out of balance. Defective fans will cause generator straps to break.
